OUR SUCCESS IS IMPRESSIVE
The secret of success for many products is the material from which they are made – and, ever more frequently, that material is KASIGLAS®.
Our partners often develop their innovations based on a given material, that is, the properties of the material determine the shape, use and ultimately the marketing success of the final product, as well.
THE WINDOW PANES OF MODERN ARCHITECTURE
In 2004, the window panes for the roof of the stadium for the 28th Summer Olympic Games in Athens were produced by KRD. This order included 4,750 panels for 25,000 m2 of polycarbonate glazing with a special coating by KRD. The panels were cut to size and delivered to Athens ready to be installed. The roof, designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, is the largest in the world and has a span of 304 x 207 metres and a height of up to 72 metres.
The windowpanes of the Atomium in Brussels were renewed with transparent, coated polycarbonate by KRD.
PMMA NOISE PROTECTION WALLS
Coated PMMA sound protection walls, several metres high, were delivered to Japan in 2005: this project established KRD as a coating specialist, even in the face of worldwide competition. Some of these panels were also produced for the first time with a self-cleaning coating of titanium dioxide.
POLICE VEHICLES / AIRCRAFT INDUSTRY / COATINGS
A special emergency roof exit was developed for the vehicles of the police and the border patrol. This roof exit fulfils all requirements, such as impact resistance.
Since 2006, KRD has also been successful in the area of fire protection for the aircraft industry. Polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) is the basis for transparent components on aircraft. These PPSU panels, with a coating by KRD, fulfil the strict aircraft standard FAR 25.853.
KRD Coatings GmbH has been continuously advancing the development of lacquer production. Lacquers can be provided with such properties as antistatic, anti-graffiti or pearl finishes.
